Following an introduction to ecological life of Wisconsin and some comments on the classification and study of mammals, Hartley goes into detail about the various mammals that can be found in the state. Includes sections on marsupials, insects, rodents, carnivorous mammals, and hoofed mammals. Prior owner's bookplate to the front pastedown. From the library of the acclaimed zoologist Desmond Morris, who is best known for his 1967 sociobiological work "The Naked Ape, and the popular television programme 'Zoo Time'. Morris was also an ethnologist and surrealist painter. In the publisher's original red cloth binding, found in the unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, very smart. Lightly bumped to the head and tail of the spine, with some light bumping towards the extremities. Missing a little wrap to the head and tail of the spine, with some light edge wear to the top edge. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout. Very Good Indeed
