About This Item

Cherry Valley Editions, 1986. First Edition. Paperback. Near Fine. 8vo. Unpaginated. Bournd in illustrated wraps, black lettering printed on spine. Very slight age-toning to top of front cover, else Fine. Inscribed by the author in pen on the title page. First printing, the second edition published the following year. Charming, occasionally deep verse, often using surfing as a motif. Trachtenberg's seemingly light verse beguiles by its easy approach, delving into deeper themes without trying, and sometimes employing his experiences as a Disneyland employee to get there. This copy, from the dispersed inventory of Berkeley's Serendipity Books, has a parenthetical reference to "Nathan," alluding to Leonard Nathan as the subject of Trachtenberg's inscription, which reads "For Leonard / Merry Waves & Happy Tides / Best, Paul Trachtenberg." Beyond his substantial body of poetry, Nathan spent a career teaching in Cal's English Dept.
