Paris: Monrocq Freres, c. 1857. First and only edition. Two leaves of text (half-title, list of plates, title-page) plus fifty gorgeous lithographs by Victor Petit, each depicting a recently-built country house near Paris. COMPLETE. About a third of each plate is devoted to the floor-plans of the house in question. Printed on very fine bright white wove paper. Aside from being an architectural and art-historical document of the first order of importance, this set of lithographs is a work of great artistic merit and beauty. Folio. TEXT AND LITHOGRAPHS LOOSE AS ISSUED IN THE ORIGINAL PRINTED CLOTH-BACKED BOARD PORTFOLIO, WITH CLOTH TIES. Portfolio case a bit worn but still solid. Text pages and plates FINE AND BRIGHT. An incredibly fresh set. Rare and important.
