Birchington, Kent: Stewart Press, 1994. Fine. First edition. Paperback. SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR, without dedication or inscription on title-page. 117pp. Illustrated with photographs; including 'Ramsgate in the twenties' and 'Birchington in the nineties'. The autobiography of George Main, (born 1919), in Dalston, North London. He had an uneventful childhood but recounts the seaside holidays at Margate, Broadstairs, and Ramsgate (in Kent) and their visits to Dreamland Amusement Park, Margate. When war broke out he endured six years of Army postings overseas. After demobilisation in 1946 he resumed employment with the New Zealand High Commission in London until retirement to Birchington, Kent. George now entered his songwriting phase and many are included as Appendixes: including, 'Birchington-on-Sea', 'Thanet Forever'. He has made several television appearances, singing some of his songs. A fine copy of a SCARCE first edition SIGNED BY THE AUTHOR.. Signed By Author, George Main. First Edition. Paperback. Fine.
