About This Item

Phaidon Press, publishers, Oxford 1078 hardcover, 8¾" x 11¼", with dust jacket Ours is an ex-library copy in transparent protective covering, with usual stamps, stickers, and barcode cut from endpaper. VERY GOOD book in VERY GOOD price-clipped dust jacket Sixty-eight illustrations, twenty-seven in colour. The paintings of the later Pre-Raphaelites, in particular those of Burne-Jones and Rossetti, are often considered to be isolated phenomena in Victorian painting. The Grosvenor Gallery was the great meeting-ground for these artists - Sir Coutts Lindsay had grandiose plans for the gallery - and its splendid opening exhibition and impact are detailed here.
