Oblong folio (12 3/4 x 9 1/2"), cloth backed pictorial boards, light edge wear else VG+. This is the tale of a family of poor, humanized mice whose father teaches each of his 8 sons how to play a magic flute and then sends them out into the world to spread happiness. There is a colorful border on each page of text and many, many striking, vibrantly colored full page + in text illustrations that almost seem to be hand-done. One of the best picture books for children. See Mahoney et. al p.136 and Five Years of Childrens Books p.76.

Tale of a poor mouse family, with exceptionally colorful illustrations on every page. Oblong, measuring about 9.5 inches tall and 12.5 inches wide, colorful covers and endpapers, no dustjacket but with clear plastic mylar protector. Covers lightly rubbed, edges more heavily so with some light rubthrough at the corners, very minor fraying to spine ends, hinges internally cracked but secure, pages a little age-darkened but clean, three inch closed tear (without paper loss) to one page, no names or other markings.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good. Oblong 4to.
