London: Grand Films, 1968. Final Draft typescript for the 1968 film, based on the 1960 novel by Terry Southern, who wrote the initial screenplay adaptation. Terry Southern's assembled working copy, on mixed stock. Some leaves are carbon typescript, and all with both holograph and photocopied annotations (as well as typeovers), beginning with page 79. Included are 3 vintage studio still photographs from the film, featuring Ringo Starr and Peter Sellers. A zany British comedy wherein a homeless hobo (Ringo Starr) is adopted by the world's richest man, Sir Guy Grand (Peter Sellers). Setting sail on the luxury liner The Magic Christian, Sir Grand tests the limit of human avarice. Wilfred Hyde White is the drunken captain, Yul Brynner is uncredited in his performance as a chanteuse transvestite, John Cleese is the director of Sotheby's auction house, and Roman Polanski, Richard Attenborough, and Raquel Welch also make cameo appearances. Paul McCartney wrote and produced "Come and Get It," the first international hit from the power-pop group Badfinger, for the film. Full provenance available on request. Self wrappers, page 1-78 and 82-91 bound with glue at the left margin, remaining leaves unbound. Title page present and integral with front wrapper, dated 25 November 1968, noted as Final Draft, with credits for novelist screenwriter Southern and screenwriters Southern, Cleese, Chapman, Sellers, and McGrath. 127 leaves, thermal paper and mimeograph on onionskin stock. Pages Very Good plus, lacking wrapper, housed in a yellow folder and perfect bound.
