None Tan embossed cloth with bevelled boards, gilt letters on spine & front cover; 48 pp. supplement; numerous black and white line engravings. The eighth volume of this highly-illustrated British monthly periodical of visual arts, published from 1878-1904. Article topics include: Visits to the homes of artists Mr. Pettie and Frank Holl, Mr. Ruskin on English art, Female head-gear in the 15th-18th centuries, Glass painting, Portraits by Hogarth, Venetian door-knockers, Profiles from the French Renaissance of Francis I, Maitre Roux, Le Primatice, Jean Bullant, Pierre Lescot, the Clouets, and Philibert Delorme ; and considerations of living artists Puvis de Chavannes, Elihu Vedder, Albert Moore, Gustave Moreau, Edward Burne Jones, and Arnold Bocklin, includes a 48-page appendix of all of the monthly Chronicle of Art pages from the year's issues, culled together at the end of the book for some reason. With interesting text and nice illustrations. Outer covers are slightly worn at edges, corners are bumped; some foxing on edges of book block; most pages are crisp and clear.
