Short piece on madness in French lit from Johnny Stanton's Siamese Banana Press. Begins by stating that Montaigne was mad "just like the 18th century," and written in a playful style: "well of course there are hundreds of madmen who write letters--think of anybody--think of Rousseau--but getting back to Stendhal, well just think of Balzac--well, no, he's a little more controlled than Stendhal--but think of anybody just anybody in the 19th century..." [Clay and Phillips, p. 220].
