About This Item
NY: Jonathan Cape and Harrison Smith, 1930. Ward, Lynd. Octavo. First edition. This is Ward's second woodcut novel, with the story told exclusively via woodcut illustrations. Through this dramatic and expressive non-verbal style, Ward communicated situations and emotions using nothing more than the woodcut's stark contrast of black and white. Bit of light rubbing along bottom edge, else a fine, bright copy in decorated boards backed with black cloth, and with increasingly uncommon dust jacket, which, but for a touch of toning, is equally fine.
