London: Nicholson and Watson, 1938. 1st Edition . Good. 6 x 8 inches (15 x 20.5 cm). Signed by Author. Lacking jacket. First printing, with the expected sponsor's label to front pastedown endpaper (with rubbing). Pale blue buckram binding. Mark to front board, fading and slight wear to ends of spine, small bump to lower corner of front board. Browning to page edges. Tape residue to front free endpaper. Light foxing to endpapers, occasional spots to and a a few marks to text. Inscribed and signed by the author, Madame Simone Prunier, to half title page: 'To Mr. Charles Thornton. From the author 'S' to 'one of the few'. With best wishes and awaiting better days to meet again at Prunier's in Paris - S.B. Prunier, Sept 1942'. Also includes a printed menu booklet for La Maison Prunier, Paris, dated 1938. A rare signed copy of this highly influential cookery classic. Overall condition is Good.
