About This Item

J. B. Lippincott Company, 1941. Hardcover. Fair/No Dust Jacket as Issued. 7 1/2" x 9 1/2. Marguerite Kirmse. FAIR / NO DJ. 56 pp (including author and illustrator bios on p. 56). Majority of pages are clean and unmarked (exceptions listed below), all the color plates and all but one of the b/w illustrations are pristine; color plates are lovely, glowing, like new. No tears or physical damage. Exterior of book is very worn. Boards covered with paper, with color image by the illustrator on the front, b/w image on the back, against a yellow-gold background. One dark spot on front, plus many faint stains front and back, smudges on back. Small tear in middle of title on front. Color image on front has faint stains all around it but doesn't appear to be affected. Paper is worn to boards at all corners and along most of the edges (especially front cover). Spine covered in black fabric; worn and fraying at top and tail, small sections at top and bottom have split along front edge of spine. Binding is solid, however, cover and pages are very much intact. Pages with marks: Front endpaper, penciled notes (previous price, 1941 1st edition). p. 9, two small stains. p. 28-29, small spot in lower margin. p. 33, small smudges bottom margin. p. 36-37, mirror tea-type stain in inner margin, overlays a bit a text and a bit of b/w illustration but is light, doesn't affect readability. p. 52, small smudge.
