About This Item

M. Barrows & Company, Inc., New York, 1947. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good-. Signed. First printing. Inscribed (to C. C. Philippe) and SIGNED by Crosby Gaige on the front endpaper. We believe this the C. C. Phillipe who was the "Host of the Waldorf", even though Crosby Gaige has added, "esq." after the name (maybe a loose interpretation of esquire would include artist, as in "artistic director"). Anyway, the volume is bumped on the spine ends, has a faint cant, and there is offsetting to the front pastedown from the jacket. One bottom corner is dog-eared. The unclipped dust jacket, sleeve protected, is chipped on the corners and spine ends (just touching the author's name on the spine crown), has a 3/4" closed tear with lengthy creasing at the top of the rear panel, and there is a jagged 1 1/2" closed tear on the top of the rear flap. The jacket spine is lightly toned.

About Trilby & Co. Books

Trilby & Co. Books is located in Northern California. The company was founded years ago by a Shetland Sheepdog named Trilby. Trilby's message to her family was brief and direct - the sale of books would increase disposable income and improve the quality of provisions in her food dish. My name is McTavish (picture above). I am the current CEO of this company, and I approve of her message. Oh, by the way, my speciality is literature, with an emphasis on first editions and signed books.
