About This Item

Paris: Francois Lienard, 1876. de la Tour, Maurice Quentin. Print. Etching. Image measures 11 5/8" x 9 5/8"<br/> <br/> Stunning portrait of Pierre-Louis Laideguive, published in 1876 in "L'Art: Revue Hebdomadaire Illustree", a French illustrated periodical of fine art and literature. Engraved after the ca. 1761 pastel by Maurice Quentin de la Tour, Laideguive is depicted in luxurious silks, holding an apparently well-read book - a sign of wealth and prestige in 18th century France. Beautiful, dark impression. This print is in very good condition with a few chips to the lower margin. British Museum 1877,0210.525<br/> <br/>
