Very good. - Octavo, black cloth titled in gilt (Vol. 1) & silver (Vol. 2) on spines with decorations stamped in gilt & silver on spines & front covers, in dws, in black paper covered cardboard case with cream pictorial labels on both panels. The covers are spotted; the dws are lightly soiled with the spines darkened; the slipcase is rubbed with a few small white stains & the labels are darkened & lightly soiled with some small stains. xxii, [ii], 475 & [4] pp.; and xii & 754 pp. Color portrait frontispiece in each volume, B&W illustrations & two 2-page genealogical charts. The contents are near fine. <p>First American edition.
