London: Longmans, Green, & Co., 1901. Thick 8vo. x, [2], 496 pp., plus 4 pp. publ. ads. Frntsp., 25 plates. Blue cloth, gilt lettrng on frnt cvr & spine (mnr rubbng, slght bmpng to crnrs), VG copy, from library of Anthony Denny, w/ armorial bookplate on frnt pstdn, the armorial was granted to Thomas Anthony Denny, Esq. of Connaught Place, Hyde Park, London, eldest surviving son of Henry Denny, a Waterford merchant. First edition of this adventure novel set about the Netherlands revolt against Phillip II (1544-74), beginning at Leiden when Lutheranism was just beginning to lay hold of the northern Netherlands, and ending with the siege of the city.
