Pp. 54(last blank), frontispiece, plus text illustrations (several full, one double page); med. 8vo; gilt lettered green cloth, lightly foxed, edges slightly faded and with light bruise to top edge of upper board next to spine; dust wrapper, worn and lightly soiled, the edges chipped and split, with two longer closed tears from top edge into front panel; a little light foxing and soiling; Quick, Vaduz, Principality of Liechtenstein, 1956. Second impression. *Signed by the author on the upper free endpaper above an inscription signed 'Virginia, Baroness von Falz-Fein (Mother of Ludmila!) 29/8/57' on the upper free endpaper. The book is dedicated to Baroness Ludmila von Falz-Fein. Paul Gallico moved to Liechtenstein to live in 1952.
