Synopsis
The Lottery was first published in 1949, and has been shivering the spines of readers ever since. In this short story, we see an idyllic village with a common green where the townspeople are gathering in a hum of excitement, and we learn that they are about to draw for their annual lottery. The winner of the lottery faces an interesting experience... This sinister look at the nature of humanity and traditions of old is a high school English literature standard.
