Some minor extremity rubs, a bit of water tiding to top edge of some leaves and boards. Textblock mildly age toned. Jacket has some edge chips, rubs along joint and fore edge folds, and some expert archival tissue repairs to old separations along folds.. Charles Jackson's famous first novel of a talented but alcoholic writer and a five-day drinking binge. There are many parallels to Jackson's own life, and he later would become a spokesman for AA. <br /> <br /> Billy Wilder directed a 1945 film adaptation of the book, which won four of the seven Oscars for which it was nominated.<br /> <br /> The book became a bestseller with numerous printings, but first printings are tough to find--especially in the original dust jacket.
