Book #3 in the 9-volume "Great Marvel" series (which ran 1906-1935) by "Roy Rockwood'' (best known for his "Bomba the Jungle Boy" series), one of the pseudonyms used by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. One in a large series of mystery & adventure books originally issued by this publisher for young adult (YA) boys & girls in the early decades of the 20th century, this series was a sci-fi one in the style of the wildly popular Jules Verne (Keeline, 2000). Orig. published by Cupples & Leon in 1911, this is the First Printing of the Whitman edition (#2347), in 248 pages. Hardcover12mo has bright blue cloth-covered boards stamped with black lettering to front & spine. Condition is Good+: quite clean, with mild spotting to outside fore edge pages & darker spotting to both front & rear free endpapers. Pages heavily tanned, commensurate with age, but completely unmarked save for old gift inscription to ffep. Binding strong. Slight rubbing to extremities, with heavy ding/crease to top-outer corner of front cover. The unclipped DJ is bright & colorful, with mild-moderate edgewear & light soil, rubbing to extremities; looks fantastic protected in new clear mylar cover!
