Illustrated with twelve color plates and many black and white ink drawings. Undamaged type to the word "back" on p. 193 indicates this is one of the earliest printings. Verso of color plates uncoated. (Bienvenue 113, Hanff 97). Supplied dustjacket (c. 1936)
Dark blue cloth boards with full color pastedown illustration of the Lost King, two children, and a goose. Black title and The Lost King's face to spine. Publisher's yellow to edges. Rubbing to extremities; light soiling to boards and speckled scuffing to spine. Three corners corners lightly nudged. Black and white illustrated endpapers. Front hinge a bit tender. Unmarked interior.
Supplied dustjacket from later printing: dustjacket rear flap lists to #29 (Captain Salt in Oz, 1936). Age-spotting to fore-edge of dustjacket.
