Softcover First Edition as issued in Good+ condition. xii+643pp. NOT Ex-library and NOT a facsimile. Wraps are slightly foxed on the margins of the front cover; interior bright and clean. All maps, photos and drawings intact; binding is tight but is cracked on the spine with all parts present and legible; edges rubbed and bumped, upper corner repaired with transparent tape; one foldout was apparently cut too long and the far edge is chipped and browned as indicated in the images; Morley's comprehensive study of the monuments and their inscriptions at the Honduran site of Copan, now a World Heritage Site. The volume is in remarkable shape with the foldouts appearing not to have been opened.

Octavo (9" x 6 1/4"). Bound in half leather with marbled boards. First edition. Orozco y Berra entered the College of mines, and in 1834 was graduated as a topographical engineer. He afterward studied jurisprudence in the seminary at Puebla, and was admitted to the bar in 1847. He was sent to the city of Mexico in 1851 to defend a lawsuit for the state, and in the next year appointed director of the national archives. He was secretary of public works from 1857 till the fall of the Liberal government, and in 1860 was professor of geography and history in the military college.
