W Whymper & Edmund Evans from designs by Birket Foster and John Gilbert; finely engraved frontispiece & title page after designs by J.M.W. Turner. Finely but austerely bound in full crushed red morocco by MacLehose of Glasgow, gilt titling, all edges gilt, interior dentelle, marbled endsheets. Shows light wear, minor rubbing to the spine & corners, small spot on spine; engraved armorial (just a crest & motto) bookplate of one Walter King, of the family of the Earl of Kingston, in Ireland. Text clean; [4], 367 pages, historical notes.. Later Printing. Full Leather. Very Good. Illus. by Foster, Birket & John Gilbert. 5½" by 8".
