EB. Very Good. Hardcover. Leather. 12mo. A Berne, Switzerland. 1759. Xvi, 326 pgs. Bound in mottled calf leather with gilt titled spine labels present to the spine and gilt decoration present to the boards. Leather rubbed and worn along the extremities. Previous owner's name present to the reverse of the FFEP. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. A detailed criticism of Voltaire's philosophical and religious ideas by Abbe Guyon (1699-1771) , the historical writer whose work was severely criticized by Voltaire. Guyon does not explicitly mention the "Encyclopedie", but its authors obviously figure among the enemies he targets. The work (1st publ. 1759) is also attributed to Claude Villaret. EB; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
