Disturbed by the public's romanticization of his previous novel, The Spy Who Came in from the Cold (1963), le Carré wrote this explicit satire of a fictional British intelligence agency in an attempt to deconstruct the mythos surrounding MI6 in the post-war era. Octavo. Original black boards, spine lettered in silver. With dust jacket. Covers lightly rubbed, edges foxed; spine panel sunned else jacket bright, laminate lifting slightly, edges slightly soiled and rubbed, unclipped. A very good copy in like jacket.
