Athens: Athenian Society, 1896. Limited Edition . Hardcover. Good/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Faux vellum quarter bound to marbled green boards, gilt lettering to spine. No. 2 of 250 copies privately printed for members of the Athenian Society. Yellowed backstrip is scuffed and bumped with small loss at head and tail. Some scuffs and scratches to boards, edges scuffed with loss of marbled material. Page edges well tanned, fore and bottom deckled. Sewn binding is cracked at one signature but solid and square, . Greek text on verso with English translation on recto. The Pastorals of Longus. Good condition.
