About This Item

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1930. Undetermined. very good. 1st edition, with first issue jacket/trade copy jacket (green variant). 431 [2 pages with drawings]pp. Octavo. Green cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front cover. Black illustration of a horse and cowboy on front of board. Light wear to ends of spine and corners. Some very light discolouration to endpapers. B/W portrait frontis. Black and white illustrations throughout. Clean, tight text block with only some mild discolouration to outer edge. Long outer edge of text block roughly trimmed. In greenish dust jacket, not price clipped. The jacket is worn at edges with some creasing, small closed tears and mild chipping. There is a 3/4" tear at the top of the back of the jacket which has caused some creasing around it. The jacket is lightly soiled, with darkening to edges and fading to spine (there is also a light stain to the bottom right of the back of the jacket). Jacket has 2.75$ price and Ny Herald Tribune quote (this is the jacket from the first trade edition). Altogether a very nice copy. very good Frazier PG 40. With a contemporary signature by the author in blue ink on the front free endpaper. Illustrated by the author. A true first edition as signified by the Scribner's A- with first trade edition jacket. Will James was a cowboy, cattle rustler, beloved author and artist of the American West. 1930
