Charles Tilt , [1839] . Hardback. . 8vo publisher's brown cloth with gilt title/decoration to spine. Illustrated with 18 plates and numerous other illustrations in text. Large fold-out coloured map at front. All edges gilt. The picture on this listing page is of the actual book for sale. Good only hardback. Edgeworn, corners bumped, pubs original cloth has been repaired old spine strip on new and new endpapers. Boards have patchy spotting. Tissue guards all have offset foxing. Fold out map is age-toned on verso but otherwise clean and unmarked. All 18 plates are present as called for.

Pages are moderately tanned and foxed throughout. Heavier tanning and foxing to other pages. Heavy thumb-marking present throughout. Hinges are cracked with exposed netting. Binding is weakened. Map to front severely compromised with half missing. Boards have heavy edge-wear with bumping to corners, crushing to spine ends and rub wear all over. Major loss to head of spine. Boards heavily scratched and marked.
