After the Armistice he went to Paris where he made a living writing articles on music and sports, short stories, and novels. Later, Jacques Copeau introduced him to theatre, after which he wrote only dramas, mostly produced by his associated company, Compagnie des Quinze. In 1946, Benjamin Britten adapted his The Rape of Lucretia for an operetta, later also composed by Ottorino Respighi. He adapted The Oresteia of Aeschylus for Jean-Louis Barrault and two American plays: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof by Tennessee Williams and Twelve Angry Men by Reginald Rose. ; VG.
