London: Chatto & Windus, Piccadilly, 1887. 1st edition. Hardcover. Very Good. 1st edition thus. A Very Good copy. 8vo., 138 pp. plus 32 page advertisement for Chatto & Windus publications in rear. Bound in publishers navy cloth with gilt band on front cover, titles on spine. Very minor rubbing to the tips. Interior is unmarked, end papers are browned. Small sticker inside rear cover "Bound by Burn & Co." Algernon Charles Swinburne was an English poet, playwright, novelist, and critic. He wrote several novels, and contributed to the famous Eleventh Edition of the Encyclopædia Britannica. He was nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature in every year from 1903 to 1907 and again in 1909.
