Warsaw: W. Łazarski, 1923 8vo (23 cm), 79, [3] pp, [4] pp of the prospectus for the book "Le beau livre: Traité de l'esthétique d'imprimerie" by Lam. Chagrin-backed marbled boards, gilt-lettered spine with raised bands, fore- and bottom-edge untrimmed, with original wrappers bound in (wrappers foxed, some foxing inside). Limited to 400 copies, printed on Holland paper, made by the Mirkow Paper Mill, for a congress of librarians and bibliophiles held in Paris in 1923. This copy, numbered 8, is for the French historian and bibliographer Alfred Pereire (with an inserted ticket signed by Stanisław Kaczorowski from the Society of Polish Bibliophiles). The dedication page and a letter from the publisher are signed by the author and the printer Zygmunt Łazarski. The book is an essay on Polish typography in the 15th and 16th centuries accompanied by bibliographical notes. It features 23 illustrations (4 folding), printed in red and black, one colored. Additionally, a prospectus for the "Recueil de gravures populaires sur bois Polonaises (XVII-e - XIX-e siècles)" published by Łazarski is loosely inserted. Stanisław Lam (1891-1965) was a Polish historian and publisher.
