Paris: Maquet, 1918. Sewn binding. Silk paper covered boards, illustrated in color with gilt edges. Very good, in good slip case. 156 pages. 12 x 8 cm. Published by the America department store, Wanamakers, this silk covered day book is decorated in a Persian art-deco design with gilt edges and housed in a similar styled publisher-issued slipcase with matching silk plates. 4 lithographic plates (Barbier), colored in pochoir and by hand in grays and white, with an additional 3 black and white plates. Interior features monthly calendar, blank pages for notes, and a selection of poems including those by Voltaire, Brazier, & Gilbert. Text in French. Interior crisp and clean, covers lightly rubbed at edges. Slip case rubbed and soiled with 1/2 cm. loss to spine.
