Sally Belfrage spent a good part of a year in Belfast to gain insights into the basic issues which she thought relatively straight forward. And they were anything but that. She tells of the situation in Northern Ireland-the ironic coexistence of violent destructiveness with a persistent instinct for joyful survival-with insight and generosity.
