Garden City: Doubleday, Doran, 1931. First Edition. Near fine in black cloth covered boards with light green text and decorations on the spine and on the front board. A small octavo measuring 7 1/2" by 5" with map end sheets with the cloth at the head and heel of the spine dimpled inward towards the text block; else fine. There is a prior owner's book plate on the verso of the title page which does not hide the "first edition" slug. In a very good+, unclipped first state dust jacket with light wear and several short closed tears to the ends of the spine area and to the upper edges of the panels. Signed by the author on a Kenneth Roberts book plate attached to the dedication page. This copy is covered by the first state dust jacket which reads "A Chronicle of Certain Men of Arundel" while the second state dust jacket reads: "A Chronicle of Arundel". Only 5,560 of the first printing were sold. A scarce title in this condition in a very collectible and very uncommon dust jacket.
