About This Item
NEW YORK: Appleton, 1896. First American Edition 1st Printing. Cloth. Very Good/No Jacket. First Edition--First Printing--First State. From the recently auctioned collection of M. B. Goldstone--famed collector and bibliographer to Steinbeck--and with his pencil notations of "First Issue"---and with auction tag still laid in. A very good copy in tan cloth with gilt decorations and red and black lettering to front board and spine. First issue with "Gilbert Parker's Best Books" following page 196 as called for. 6 pp. ads and 4 pp blank at rear. A handsome copy lightly age toned with a slightly darkened spine--the two red letters are barely visible but the black letters are bold. Tight and square with strong hinges. Uncut page edges--except to the top edge. Unmarked interior pages--clean. A wonderful grouping of civil war stories from the author of "The Red Badge Of Courage"--in very collectible condition.
