Red hardcover with title in gilt on spine. Condition: Very good, with just a hint of shelfwear to covers. Binding sound, no inscriptions. Dustjacket condition: Fair to good, generally shelfworn with some faint scribble marks and soiling to the "cloud" around the horse drawn bus on the front of the jacket. Price-clipped. 35pp. Beautifully illustrated by Dorothy Craigie (1900-1971). Dorothy Craigie was the pseudonym used by the artist Dorothy Glover, who is best remembered now as the one-time lover of Graham Greene with whom she lived for almost ten years. Greene and Glover collaborated on four other titles in the "Little..." series, The Little Train (1946), The Little Red Fire Engine (1952),The Little Balloon (1953), and The Little Steamroller (1955). The Little Balloon is the only book in the series for which Greene never claimed authorship..
