About This Item

From the front DJ flap: "The long steel ribbon wound West over plain, desert and mountain into the timbered fastness of the Washington wilderness, the building of it was a saga of strong men battling sand, snow and the high mountain passes. Some were broken by heat and cold, some were blown to eternity by primitivew equipment, some buried under the wreckage of flimsy bridges. And all of it becomes a story of pioneers in a power struggle, driven to success by the indomitable spirit of the Empire Builder - James J. Hill.

Black & white photographs included by the famous railroad photographers.

"...the Great Northern classic, for every railroader, active or armchair."

Book - Very Good condition. Blue cloth with black text on spine. Front cover has a vew dark marks that did not come off. There is a tiny bit of edge/corner wear. There are a few pages (163-172) that appear to not have been trimmed cleanly by the publisher. Clean and tight.

Dust Jacket - Very Good condition. Jacket has yellowed and the top spine has a tiny tear, otherwise very little wear.
