About This Item

Rigby Limited, Adelaide, 1967. First Edition. Hardcover. Very Good Condition/Good. Acknowledgements, list of illustrations, list of maps and diagrams, bibliography and index. Dark gold coloured end pages. The text is illustrated with black-and-white photographs and drawings. Brown coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the back strip. Colour illustrated dustwrapper (wraparound) with black coloured titles to the front panel and back strip. For 70 years Cobb & Co. stage-coaches plied their trade in the frontier world of Australia. Started in the rip roaring days of the gold rush of the 1850s, " ... which kept pace with the lusty settlers as they thrust deep into new country. Bushfires, bushrangers, drought, dust storms, mud, boulder-strewn mountain roads, and the wide loneliness of the planes – they were all in a day's work to Cobb & Co.'s drivers as they forge the communications of a continent." – from the front fold over panel blurb. Softening and rubbing of the back strip edges with a little rubbing of the book corners. Tanning and foxing of the text block edges with age toning of the pages. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and a little creasing of the top dustwrapper edge. Chipping to the top edge of the back strip and a small tear to the lower left-hand corner of the same panel. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. [16], 17 - 228 pages,. Dust Jacket price-clipped. Please refer to accompanying picture (s). Quantity Available: 1. Shipped Weight: Under 1 kilo.
