Gilt tooled outer board edges. Marbled endpapers and block edges. Life by William Hayley. Edited by T S Grmshawe . Illustrated frontispiece. Pages have slight foxing, tanning and minor thumbing. Heavy water staining to frontis and pre title page. Slight staining to upper margins. Boards have some edge wear, with moderate bumping and fraying to corners. Spine ends extremely crushed with heavy splits to joints. Rather scratched, rubbed and marked overall. Water staining front and rear. Torn spine labels. Gilt is bright.

Saunders and Otley, 1836. Hardcover. Acceptable. 1836. Second Edition. 348 pages. Half bound in leather with marbled paper covered boards. Black and white illustrated frontispiece. Book has a slight smoky odour. Vol III. Moderate foxing and tanning to pages; heavier to front most pages. Binding remains firm. Boards have moderate corner bumping and edge-wear with visible scuffing overall. Spine has moderate tanning with soft crushing to ends and minor rubbing to leather.

C. Daly, 1850. Hardcover. Acceptable. 436p. Red cloth with giltwork on spine, gilt edges. Heavy wear to exterior with bumping, soiling, rubbing. The bottom inch of the spine paneling has come up and is partially loose. The cloth overlaps at either end of the spine are worn away, and the cloth is wearing through along the hinges. Sticker attached to front pastedown. Gift note on flyleaf done in pretty illuminated calligraphy. Heavy foxing to frontispiece and illustrated half-title; very little to no foxing to main text, but paging/handling soil and some marks in pencil. The print is tiny. Break in spine with exposed webbing and stitching between title page and first page of text, and so the early gatherings have a little extra wiggle room. Combined with the worn cloth on the exterior and you get a rather weak binding that requires very gentle handling; however it is still in one piece. Size: 32mo - over 4 in - 5 in tall. Year: 1850.

Illustrated with drawings engraved on steel by W. Harvey. Good only with top page edges unopened, preliminary pages loose and laid in, corners bumped, spine ends frayed, cloth soiled.
