New York, N. Y.: George P. Putnam, 1848. First Edition. . Hardcover. Good++/No Jacket. This is a green cloth enbossed cover in Good++ condition. This is the author's revised edition, Volume I. The 1848 date is on the title page as well as the copyright page. Presumed First Edition Thus. This is a very solid book with very good hinges. The gilt lettering on the spine is very bright and the cover is attractive. There is some wear / soiling to the cover but not bad at all. The corners have wear, but only at the tips. The spine ends are good, and the edges have only minor bumps. This book is firm and square. The end pages and text pages have age spots throughout, but these pages are very readable. There is an advertisment by Putnam on the last two pages dated Nov.,1848. 437 pages.
