About This Item
London: John Murray. Good. 1854. Hardcover. Covers and spine detached, intact. Some shelfwear along the edges. Three small paper strips have been pasted on the upper right hand corner of the front endpaper to obliterate some writing. ; Other than the defects noted this is an attractive volume in full red leather with gilt borders and elaborate floral patterns and stamped covers. The spine has raised bands, and gilt stamped and elaborate floral compartments. A. E. G. A full-page portrait of the author painted by Thomas Phillips, R. A. , engraved by W. Holl , along with the title page of the 1851 edition, precedes the present title page. Index. Someone owning another copy may be interested in marrying their copy with this very attractive binding. Reattaching the present binding with the text block is another option, of course. ; Large 8vo 9" - 10" tall; 584 pages .
