A scarce first edition biography on Dean of Maritzburg, James Green, an illustrated work written by Theodore Wirgman. The first edition of this scarce work.Complete in two volumes.An insightful biography on the life of Reverend James Green.Green was rector and dean of Maritzburg in Natal, South Africa, from February 1849 to January 1906.Volume I illustrated with a frontispiece, and one plate.Volume II illustrated with a frontispiece.Written by Augustus Theodore Wirgman, an Anglican priest who is noted for being the Archdeacon of Port Elizabeth from 1907 to 1917.Collated, complete.Two pages of adverts to the rear of Volume II. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally, smart, with some minor rubbing to the boards and spines. Light bumping to the head and tail of the spine and to the extremities, and a small bump to the rear board of Volume I. Spines are very lightly faded. Some minor marks to the boards. Spots to the fore edges. Pencil notes to the rear endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean with some scattered spots, mostly to the first and last few pages. The occasional pencil annotation to the margins. Very Good
