An interesting biography of the Regency era socialite George 'Beau' Brummell. Brummel was an important figure on late eighteenth century London society and was a close friend of the Prince Regent, the future King George IV before the two quarrelled and got into debt. However, Brummel has since been the subject of numerous literary portrayals has become a pre-eminent example of the dandy, who is best remembered for his rejection of overly ornate clothes for well-fitted bespoke garments. After a chronological narrative of Brummell's early life before Captain Jesse elaborates on Brummell's accomplishments, influence on society, and political views, before zooming in on important events in Brummell's life. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, very smart. Very lightly rubbed to the boards, a little more so to the spine. Rather bumped to the head of the spine, less to to the tail. The front hinge is starting, but firm. Internally, firmly bound, with bright and clean pages throughout. Very Good
