Great explanations of the expeditions' hardships and interactions within the diverse group of Kit Carson, Fremont, other trackers, map makers, Indians and outdoorsment. Written in anticipation of the 1856 election wherer Fremont was nominated for President...so some lengthy glorifications, discussions of his court martial, and his arrest in England on some unpaid debt (not really his!), etc.
Interesting read for discussions of the equipment, the mules, wagons, guns, planning, etc. Three expeditions under the auspices of the U.S., two more later.
Condition: NOT a library book. Please review photos and ask for more if necessary to make your best buying decision! Original covers, re-backed with original title lable re-applied. Interior clean with no stamps, crimps, writing, etc within.
