NY: Moffat, Yard, 1918. First Edition. Two vols. 8vo, pp. 530, 563. Illustrated with portraits of Belasco, his family, and actors of the time. Vol. I inscribed on the flyleaf by David Belasco on July 9, 1924. A little watermark on the foredge. Besides inscribing the book, Belasco has added a holograph caption under one photograph. Covers little water-stained, Vol I has a hinge tender and one repaired. VG. Biography of the American playwright and producer, noted for success in developing talents of actors and for his methods of stage setting and lighting. Author of, or collaborator in, May Blossom (1884), The Girl of the Golden West (1905), The Return of Peter Grimm (1911) and others..Monumental biography of theatrical producer and playwright David Belasco,written by William Winter (1836-1917), a drama critic for the NewYorkTribune who was close friends with Belasco for more than 30 years.
