London: London. Longmans, Green, and Co., 1880. New Edition . Fine Binding. Very Good/No Jacket. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. Size 7½" x 4¾", 500 pages including appendix. Condition very good, the corners and bottom edge of the cover are rubbed, the spine edges and raised bands also rubbed, prize label from Royal Agricultural college on front pastedown, else near fine, internal contents clean, complete and intact. Tan leather binding with gilt double frame on the front and back covers and the emblem of the Royal Agricultural College Cirencester in gilt on the front cover. The cover edges and inner turn-ins are decorated with tiny gilt and tooled dentelles. 5 raised bands on the spine, decorated with gilt. The title "Gleig's Life of Wellington" is on a black leather panel in the second compartment, the other compartments are filled with gilt frames and scrolls.Marbled page edges, pastedowns and endpapers. Frontispiece sketch style portrait of Wellington with a copy of his signature underneath. Copied from a drawing by Sir Thos. Lawrence P.R.A. Title page printed in red and black. Gleig served in the Peninsular Campaign under Wellington and wrote this biography after much research & with original material
