Cloth, cover ill, 4to,. unpaginated, profusely illustrated. 204 lots (nos 39-242) This part of the sale included a choice selection of items from the Bradley Martin ornithological library, the finest private collection in the world, including virtuallycomplete collections of the works of John Gould, François Levaillant, and Daniel G. Elliot.. Among the "less obvious" treasures noted in the introduction are William Turner's Aviarum praecipuarum (present in 2 copies), Gesner's Historiae animalium, Aldrovandi's De avibus, Willoughby's Ornithology, the supposed original manuscript of Albin's Natural History of Birds, an exquisite subscriber's copy of Catesby's Natural History of Catalina, Knip's Les pigeons, and many many more.
