Introductions by Richard H. Dillon (3 pages) and Lawrence Clacrk Powell (half page). This is the special limited hardbound set of catalogs for the several auctions; the auction gallery issued this set at $45 each volume or $150 for all four. These include Exploration of the American West, The History of California, The Native American, The Fur Trade, The Gold Rush, The Yosemite Valley Literature, Photographs, Paintings, Manuscripts and Ephemera. Reissued later as a five-volume trade paperbound set.
