1903. Ephemera. Very good condition. Fully signed letter from Holden dated April 25th, 1903 as attorney asking after Mary Banks' papers. Holden was a West Point graduate (1870), astronomer, professor of mathematics, lawyer and ultimately Librarian at West Point Military Academy (1901-1914). He was also the 5th president of the University of California, first director of the Lick Observatory and founder of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific. 8 x 10.5", cream USMA Library letterhead, with manuscript writing in ink, original folds, staple mark at top, slight ruffle at edge, one corner creased, not affecting text.
