A biography of black scientist Lewis Latimer- a pioneer in the field of electricity who worked closely with Thomas Edison and Alexander Graham Bell to usher in the modern age of technology. Part of the Black Americans of Achievement series. Signed presentation from Norman (Latimer's grand-daughter) on the front endpaper: "To Mrs. Constance Cooke- big supporter of Lewis H. Latimer and his works, From Dr. Winifred Latimer Norman." Cooke was the former director of the Queens Borough Public Library, which houses Latimer's papers. A nice association copy! Fine condition (contents clean & tight). $75.00.
